GopherConIndia 2018 is proud to work with Dave Appleton to bring to you a full day of the Ethereum for Go programmers workshop on Thursday, 8th Mar. 2018, a day before the actual GopherConIndia conference.
What is Ethereum and Blockchain?
Blockchain: you’ve heard the buzz. Perhaps you aren’t sure why it’s important for you and your business to be aware of. Why is one firm describing it as the ultimate game changer in finance and beyond? What is the mechanics behind this technology that has the promise to change the world as we know it? Blockchain technology puts the power back in our hands. It enables the kind of direct exchanges, free from the oversight and control of the forces that have come to dominate our lives, that hasn’t been possible in the history of banking. It empowers everyone to be able to participate as equals on a level playing field in the world of finance. It sounds too good to be true, yet this new technology exists and becomes more accurate every day. It is sweeping the business world by storm, with billion dollar investments investments from major companies pouring into research. It is not too late to jump on the bandwagon.
Ethereum is a decentralized application platform and a next-generation cryptocurrency (called Ether). Ethereum is as generalized as it possibly can. This enables people to create their own specialized applications (for both financial purposes and non-financial) on Ethereum for just about any purpose they want. Ethereum runs on top of a Blockchain and allows people to use smart contracts, which are applications that run exactly as they are programmed to do, without any fraud, censorship, downtime or interference from third parties. Ethereum is, in short, seen as one of the biggest steps towards the Internet of Things and a world that is decentralized, with just one limit – our own imagination. There is a Blockchain Developer Shortage which probably you can take advantage of, after the course.
This workshop is for a full day, for any level Go developer who has some experience with Go or some other programming languages and wants to learn Ethereum. We would love to have you attend this paid workshop. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
Note: The proceeds of this workshop will go towards part-funding the conference.

Dave Appleton has been messing around with things since sometime before the dawn of time. Mentored by people with more technical expertise than interpersonal skills and business sense, Dave started programming in 1968 in FORTRAN, building audio systems about the same time and messing with digital logic in 1976. In the intervening time he has built world beating test systems, co-designed award winning products, run his own instrumentation company for over fifteen years, learned and actually used more than two dozen programming languages at a professional level, and taught courses from hobby to degree level on subjects as diverse as IOT, e-commerce and Image Processing. For the last three years he has been working on crypto currencies and financial technology.
